Girl Scouts Service Unit 144 is part of the Girl Scouts Heart of Central California Council of GSUSA. We have over 60 troops in our Service Unit. Troops are run by volunteer leaders, who choose the day, time and location of troop meetings. Troops may meet at your child's school, in your neighborhood, or in another location in town. Girls Scouts begin as Daisies (K-1) but can join any time. Girls usually join a troop and work together to learn, discover, explore, and take action. As the girls get older, the issues they explore mirror their expanding world.
Joining is easy. If you'd like more information, contact us using the email form below. We'll be happy to answer all of your questions, and help you find a troop that will best meet your daughter's and your family's needs. If you're ready to join now, use this JOIN link. It will take you to our council's website. Once you've entered your girl's information, it will allow you to search for a troop by zip code. If you don't find a troop that meets your needs, contact us below, or call Customer Care at (916)452-9181 and ask to register your girl as a Juliette.
Girls can join Girl Scouts when they are in kindergarten, or will be starting kindergarten in the fall, or at any time after that. The cost to register is $25 for one year. Other costs may include purchasing a uniform (not required), troop dues, and activity fees, depending on the troop. Financial aid is available for membership and uniform. Parents or guardians may be asked to volunteer some time to assist with the troop.
Our Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a one-of-a-kind leadership development program for girls, with proven results. It is based on time-tested methods and research-backed programming that help girls take the lead—in their own lives and in the world.
Research shows that girls learn best in an all-girl, girl-led, and girl-friendly environment. Girl Scouts is a place where she’ll practice different skills, explore her potential, take on leadership positions—and even feel allowed to fail, dust herself off, get up, and try again.
Girl Scouts is proven to help girls thrive in five key ways as they develop a strong sense of self, seek challenges and learn from setbacks, display positive values, form and maintain healthy relationships, and identify and solve problems in the community.
Most girls experience Girl Scouts as part of a troop. However, this doesn't work for every family. Juliettes is for independent Girl Scouts who want to experience the program but, for whatever reason, aren't part of a troop. We keep our Juliettes connected to programs and activities via our emails and Facebook page, and Juliettes can join a troop anytime they want to.
